Avatar Media’s Practical Photojournalism Workshop
As debut of our new media company, Avatar, we organized a Practical Photojournalism Workshop for Bloggers with the multi-talented Ms Jojie Alcantara. It was held at the Riverwalk Restaurant on November 18, 2009.
With 17 participants listening intently, Ms Jojie regaled the crowd with stories on her journalism, photography, and photojournalism experiences, tips, and tricks. Ms Jojie focused on the composition of pictures and basic editing of photos for journalism purposes.
After the session, the participants were given the chance to explore the nearby Crocodile Park, Butterfly House, and Tribung K’ Mindanawan where they searched for and found stories to tell with the help of their lenses. Participants shot with their cameras ranging from DSLRs to camera phones and found beautiful stories everywhere.
The best shots were then submitted for viewing and critiquing. Everybody learned even more tricks as the magic of cropping, proper focusing, and sharpening images were highlighted and demonstrated.
The participants who submitted the best photos were awarded prizes from Ms Jojie and Ana Caguiat of FTLP and Coed Clothing Company.
It was definitely a fun learning experience for everyone involved and a great debut for Avatar Media.
Avatar Media would like to thank Ms. Jojie Alcantara; the generous Mr. Sonny Dizon, Chris Ea, and Jerry of Crocodile Park, Riverwalk Restaurant, the Butterfly House, and Tribung K’ Mindanawan; Ana Caguiat of Coed Clothing Company and FTLP; and Councilor Louie John Bonguyan for the LCD Projector.
